What about your JW past are you thankful for?

in the interest of self-healing and finding the peace that comes from being grateful, can you think of anything at all that was positive about having been one of jehovah's witnesses?.

not to be misunderstood with missing something about it, is there something about the experience that has enriched you?.

to answer the question myself, being forced to face the fallacies of the teachings of jwism, i was also prompted to look past those teachings and reevaluate everything i believed in.. that experience was frightening and unsettling, but i'm thankful for it.. i now have a greater appreciation for life in all its wonder than i did when i took it for granted as one of jehovah's witnesses.. i'm more determined now to find meaning in this life, after having lived for so long for a future that was never to arrive..

Good Question.

I suppose in my case it has to come in 2 parts,

Firstly when I was a believer, I was grateful for understanding the bible as I never known it before, I was raised a catholic, I learnt scriptures and How to use the bible, I now know how to use it as well as Priest, Pastor Clergyman etc… and that’s including handing many other translations not just the NWT.

Because of all the reading I was doing, I am a much better reader, because of the Door to Door work I can just walk up to someone anywhere and anytime and talk with more confidence. I gave talks which helped me not only in Pubic Speaking but also how to research topics.

Secondly, as a NON Believer, I am now grateful because once you have being fooled by the best you know how to handle the rest. I can see though these other mind-controlling religions and I can see these mind-controlling methods used in other areas other then religions as well. I am a greater believer in God and Jesus then ever before but I can see the lies in all religions, and I can see that simple keeping the Law of Christ is really all that matters, details about understanding every single scripture isn’t really that important.

I am not as bitter as many other Ex-JW’s because I am not DFed nor did I ever DA myself either, why let the WTS have their satisfaction, I’ll beat them at there own game.

I also gave up a good job so I could go pioneering for 10 years but it’s the cost of false religions, look how many in the history of mankind have suffered and died for false religion, the Inquisitions, the crusaders and even the Muslims now, we are just more victims.

I used to feel happy and allmost envious of those who grow up in the "truth" but it didn't take long before I could see that they were a bit messed up and were lacking something, of course this was long before I realised that it wasn't the truth at all, by that time I could see why they were messed up and I was happy that I never was raised in the "truth"

Jehovah's Witnesses Are An Illogical People & They Should Be Embarrassed!

question a witness in a very logical manner about their view of blood transfusions and blood fractions and see what you'll get.. ask a witness where in the bible it states that you can't talk to a disfellowshipped family member unless he or she lived in your home.. ask a witness why they need 2 witnesses to establish that a child has been molested but they don't need 2 witnesses to establish that a spouse has been unfaithful and that the accuser may now be free to "scripturally" remarry.. have a jehovah's witness prove to you that filling out a service report is necessary for a christian to have god's approval.. can you think of other proofs that the witness religion is totally illogical??

minimus, can you remember how you used to think when you were a believer in this? You used to think the same way. It simple shows the power of these cult religions how they can deceive normal people.

Step-Daughter Farks up Halloween.....

i finally get the wife to promise and dress up in costume to take our 3y/o out trick or treating with us!

i won right?

my wife spends hours getting ready, we blow off the dub school for the night, it's dark and our daughter is in her princess dress,..... .

My point is "we are not here to like everything that the WTS hates", give her freedom to choose and respect that, don’t shove your beliefs down her throat just like the WTS has shoved there beliefs down ours, you’ll only be as dogmatic and they have being.

And also, I cannot see how a celebration that involves witches’ and magic can be celebrated by anyone who considers themsleves Christian, but that my opinion, maybe its her's also. I know atheists who feel its weird Celebration.

Look Mister, we are not here to like everything that the WTS hates. I think Halloween is the stupidest dumpiest most satanic celebration on any calendar regardless of your faith.

And if you are calling your 17yo Step daughter a Bitch, well I can see there is no happiness in the celebration to start with even with you, your only doing it because the WTS don’t like it which isn’t a really good reason to force your step daughter to part take of it, if you want her to hate the WTS just tell her the truth about their false doctrines

I have 2 step daughters aged 17 & 18 and calling them Bitch’s isn’t the right way to get their respect, so when she grows up hating you don’t be too quick to blame the WTS.

i have my own copy now, this is of course the new "jw only" version, the version that other "ordinary" "worldly" "satan controlled" people cant have.

ive being told that the cover will be the same every month, i hope the at least the cover changes.

Its amazing how well the watchtower rewrites history and then simply forgets the truth of their pass. Don’t be surprised if once you show them the cover it won’t make a difference, in fact they’ll probably get upset with you for daring to claim that the WTS isn’t the true religion. There are lots of old Watchtower Main-study articles that deal with that very subject of the 1914 generation won’t pass away before the end comes, but of course that was before the new light.!

no jw can do any wrong in the eyes of other jws.

even when its obvious that a jw has done wrong, they are always righteous to other jw"s, as long as a jw gos to meeting and does field service then he must be right with god and therefore must be right in the eyes of others jws.

Example, in the case of a marriage break up, if you know that the husband has done bad even being violent, if the wife stops going to meetings then it ‘Proves’ that the husband was right and everyone looks down on the wife because she has stopped loving God since she stopped going to meetings, and if you say something against the husband they look down and you for suggesting that a JW was wrong. what a Joke !

You guys understand what I mean?

December 15 watchtower. is the end next year?

i'm not sure if this has being discussed allready but there was some interesting comments on the dec 15 wt which seem to point as "next year" maybe being the end, i don't have the articule with me but i wonder if anyone here knows the part i'm referring to, if i don't get any possitive comments i'll go and look for a copy of it.

its just more scare stuff.

Anyone tried to get your congregation records?

im curious as to what they say about me.. any one tried and succeeded?.

I did ask once for my record card, although the secretary wasn't happy about it, I asked the other elders and they couldn't see anything wrong with the request, after all, its my record card, so I looked at it and tooks some notes. I was once assitant to the secretary and I had control of the record cards, there were some very old cards there from some JW's who i have never heard of at that time and some JW"s who stopped coming for many years, I do clearly reemember it being up to me if I wanted to keep these cards or throw them out, I decided to leave them there, it was the safer choice, in case someone did come back.
